The Ruby Tree was a long time dream come true...My mind was always imagining and I always knew I wanted to own something, to be my own boss. In my early twenties, a space in Southbury opened up and I remember thinking, that would be an awesome space for a gift shop/local artisan gallery...

Twenty plus years later, after years of retail and management experience, running and then starting up women's gym facilities, the ending of my first marriage, completing my masters degree, opening my own wellness practice, getting remarried and having baby number one, I took the leap! Of course, my journey also involved the beginning of my own spiritual journey.

During the ending of my first marriage, I became very aware of how I let things, people and events affect me; and it often was in a negative way. I realized I needed to control the way I reacted to things, as I cannot control everything that happens around me or what others do.

Once I came to this realization, it was like the doors to some of life's wisdoms opened up to me. The Reiki healing I was receiving at the time was just what I needed to start making myself a priority; I enrolled in a masters program in Clinical Nutrition and then opened my private practice in 2006. I was drawn to the nutrition after having discovered the root cause to my chronic headaches and migraines. After receiving my Usui Reiki training, I introduced healing sessions into my practice, even combining them with the nutritional work I was doing with clients, and the results were amazing!

I began offering Reiki certification classes in 2010. The energy work and teaching has been the most satisfying part of my work, and really became my focus. I then trained with local shamanic practitioner, Jane Burns, and certified in Celtic Reiki, a two-year Celtic Shamanism program, and continue to expand that training. What I find so fascinating about this work, is the fact that the more I do it, the more I learn and heal myself, making me a more effective healer. I am always learning, always reading, and I can never get enough...I strive to be a wise ole crone one day! I encourage my students to use me as a resource as they move forward on their journey, having proper support is priceless, I know!

Now-a-days, you can catch me at the Shop a day or two a week, often with Merlin, our German Shepherd rescue, and one or two of my girls in tow...juggling homeschooling with everything else on my plate is definitely challenging, but I would not change it for anything! Staying active and learning with my girls is rewarding, and this time with them is incredible. I watch my girls put what they learn and see from me and at the Shop into use, and think, I am doing something right!!
